Tlazolteotl- Aztec goddess of fertility, sex, childbirth and love. She
appears in four forms, that correspond to the phases of the moon: a yang maiden, a goddess of taking changes; a mother
goddess who devours the sins of mankind, and a hideous old crone who brings destruction and change. She is the goddess
of witches. http://www.goddessherself.com/whoyou.htm

During the matriarchal period of human herstory, women and reproductive processes were regarded with
awe. A woman's conception was believed to be caused by divine forces.. The conclusion was that procreation was a supernatural
and magical event. . The first Temples to honour the divine were dedicated to the Goddesses and served by priestesses. The
priestesses danced for the goddess and united with her through the dance. The women were channels for the flow of goddess
energy, which was transmitted to the temples congregation. The dancing priestesses marked the transition of cult dance to
religious dance. - Ishtar http://www.cybodule.freeserve.co.uk/

SOFT MOON SHINING
My beloved Divine Mother
Dance with me
under the soft moon shining
in the wide open fields
far beyond the toil and trouble
of my busy mind
Dance with me
before the night grows old
while the winds of love
still bow the grasses
and the coyotes howl for you
to step their way
Dance with me my beloved
while the Mystery's Edge
still flirts in the shadow
of your radiant light
Millennia ago, priestesses and women danced upon hilltops and in groves celebrating life's mystery, power and beauty.
These women saw themselves as made in the image of the Creatrix, The Great Mother Goddess. Her full, ripe, childbearing
icons were representational of Her power. The tradition of The Goddess was life affirming, focusing on fertility, birth, renewal
and regeneration. The dance of The Goddess mimicked the birthing experience and aided the process of labor and delivery. This
dance, the forerunner of what is known today as "belly dancing", is a uniquely feminine way of consciously activating soulful
body energies. The full activation and integration of these subtle yet powerful energies is empowering, transformative, healing
and energizing. Thus the power of The Goddess can be reclaimed and an artful fusion of Body, Mind and Spirit achieved.- http://www.zohardancing.com/goddessdance.html
